Nitte University's Centre for Tulu Studies | Study of Indian banking - incomplete without acknowledging the role of South Canara

Dr K R Shetty Centre for Tulu Studies in collaboration with Govinda Dasa College Alumni Association, commemorated `Patrika Dina and Doctors Day’ on 1st July 2024.

Prof. (Dr) Sateesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-President (ISR & CRL), briefed the significance of Doctors’ Day. Dr. Chinnappa Gowda, Retd. Vice Chancellor, Karnataka Folk University, felicitated Dr. Bhandary on Doctors' Day.

Chief Guest Dr. Sudhir Raj, Professor at Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte offered insights into the rich social and financial heritage of South Canara Banking.

Journalists in attendance were honoured with 'Tulu Gitanjali', a book authored by Kedambadi Jattappa Rai. The event also recognized Mr. Shankar Guttakadu and Mrs. Sumathi Kemmade, Trainers & Resource persons of the workshop, a part of the Documentation Koraga Folk Knowledge & Dictionary Project.

Raviraj Kini, Professor, Nitte Institute of Communication, presided over the function. He discussed the current state of media in his address. Shri Ramesh Rao, former President, Govinda Dasa College Alumni Association, led the prayer, while Dr. Sayeegeetha and Mr. Mohan Shetty served as Masters of Ceremony. Prof. Krishnamurthy, Principal, Govinda Dasa College, delivered the vote of thanks.
