Sadbhavana Diwas, celebrated annually on 23rd August, 2024, in honour of former PM, Late Sri. Rajiv Gandhi, emphasizes on promoting peace, national integration and communal harmony among the countrymen. This year, the NSS unit of NUCSER organised a pledge-taking ceremony at the institute premises.
Mr. Sachin Karkera, owner of Kamadhenu Café, Mangaluru was invited to grace the event as chief guest. Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER introduced the chief guest as an epitome of compassion and selfless service. Mr. Karkera was felicitated for his service to the poor and the needy, despite his limited resources.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Karkera thanked the institute for recognising his efforts and for providing a platform to share his thoughts. He stressed on the importance of Sadbhavana (goodwill) in today’s society and how one must serve the society in whatever capacity he or she can.
The highlight of the event was the pledge-taking ceremony, where all participants vowed to resolve differences through dialogue, transcending caste and religious barriers. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rama Adiga. Ms. Varsha P Shetty served as the program’s MC. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate diversity and reinforce the value of harmony in society.
