The Department of Public Health Dentistry, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with Mangalore One School and Indian Cancer Society, conducted a free dental check-up camp at Mangalore One School, Chembugudde, Thokkottu on 18th October 2024. Oral cancer awareness was provided to higher primary school children. Children were imparted knowledge about the various types of tobacco, health consequences following consumption of tobacco and importance of refraining from the habit and tobacco cessation. The students actively involved in the health education by asking various doubts following the lecture. A total of 287 school children underwent oral health check-up. About 220 school children who require treatment were referred to AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences for treatment.
