News from NGSMIPS | 42nd Annual Day celebrations and Distinguished Alumni Award ceremony

The 42nd Annual Day celebrations and Distinguished Alumni Award ceremony of NGSMIPS was held on 20th February 2025 at KS Hegde Auditorium. Masters of Ceremony, Ms. Tasrifa & Ms. Suhaima welcomed the gathering followed by an invocation song performed by Varun, II B.Pharm. The official lamp lighting ceremony marked the beginning of the celebrations. The Annual Report was presented by Dr. Marina Koland, Principal, NGSMIPS. Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr) TS Keshava Prasad, Dy. Director, Yenepoya Research Centreand Guest of Honor, Chef Dr. Dhiraj Pathak, Principal, NIHS addressed the gathering.

Ms. Shailashree Aithal, President, Student Council Committee, delivered her farewell speech, sharing her heartfelt experiences and reflections on her tenure. A highlight of the event was the prize distribution for Academic Excellence and Cultural Programs, with IV B.Pharm students winning the overall championship for their outstanding performance.

Dr. Jennifer Fernandes, Professor, Pharmaceutical Chemistry welcomed Mr. Raghavendra Rao and Mr. Devaraj B, who were honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award 2025. Prof. (Dr) CS Shastry, Director (Research & Strategic Initiatives), NGSMIPS delivered the presidential address, highlighting the institution’s future growth plans. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Prashant Nayak, Asst. Professor, Pharmaceutics. The formal ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

The informal segment of the event began with the felicitation of Mr. Niyal A Rahman (III PharmD) and Mr. Abhishek VS (III BPharm) for their remarkable achievements in sports. The Yakshagana performance was followed by various dance performances from different classes, each showcasing talent, creativity and enthusiasm. The outgoing PharmD students left a lasting impression with their heartfelt and nostalgic performance. The electrifying performance by the IV BPharm students set the stage on fire, making it a performance to be remembered for years to come.

A number of formal and informal events that highlighted the accomplishments, skills and contributions of students, staff and alumni made the event a huge success.
