JKSHIM hosted a guest lecture by Dr. K Rajesh Nayak on "Mergers and Acquisitions in the Banking Sector" on 2nd December 2026.The session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of why banks pursue mergers - including financial stability, operational efficiency, cost reduction, economies of scale and market expansion. Dr. Nayak explained how banking M&A differs from other industries due to strong regulatory oversight aimed at protecting depositors and maintaining financial stability. Real-world examples from Indian banking, covering both private and public sector mergers, helped illustrate these concepts effectively. The speaker also addressed key challenges such as workforce integration, technology harmonization, cultural differences and governance issues.
Students actively participated through questions and discussions, making it a truly interactive and enriching learning experience that bridged academic knowledge with industry practice.
