News from NUINS | Ability Beyond Disability: Promoting Health, Inclusion and Well-being

The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, in association with NAAC Criterion VII, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences (NUINS), organized an extension activity titled “Ability Beyond Disability: Promoting Health, Inclusion and Well-being” on 29th June 2026 at Cheshire Home, Kankanady, Mangaluru.

The program aimed to promote social inclusion, emotional well-being and meaningful engagement among the residents of Cheshire Home. The activity began with an interactive session where nursing students and faculty members spent time building rapport with the residents through informal conversations and interpersonal relationship-building activities. Recreational activities, including Passing the Ball and Musical Chair, were subsequently conducted, encouraging active participation and enjoyment. The residents enthusiastically engaged in singing, dancing and group interactions, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere.

The program was coordinated by Mr. Veeresh Kademani and Mr. Harish Deyannavar. A total of 14 residents, 15 nursing students and 2 faculty members participated in the event.
