Release of textbook of Endodontics AUTHORED BY PROF. DR. MITHRA N. HEGDE 3RD NOVEMBER 2016.

The book titled ‘TEXTBOOK OF ENDODONTICS’ authored by Prof. Dr. Mithra N. Hegde, Vice Dean, Dean of Dean of Dental Faculty, Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, was released by the Honourable Chancellor of Nitte University, Sri. N. Vinaya Hegde on the 3rd of November 2016 at Vimashathi Bhavan.

The gathering was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Mithra N. Hegde.

The Honourable Chancellor in his address congratulated Prof. Dr. Mithra N. Hegde on the release of the book and recognized her valuable contribution to the field of research and academics. He emphasized on the qualities every dental health professional should imbibe to be a successful health provider.

Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Bhat, Ex-Dean of Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal delivered the prologue to the book release. He bestowed special wishes to Prof. Dr. Mithra N. Hegde and emphasized on the usefulness of the book to the students and clinicians. He briefed the gathering about his experiences as a teacher, the definition of an ideal dentist and about pros and cons of the evolutionary advancements in dental materials.

The Vice Chancellor of Nitte University, Prof. (Dr.) S. Ramananda Shetty, reminisced about the leading Endodontists and the pivotal role they have played in shaping the role of dental health care in India.

Prof. (Dr.) Sridhar Shetty, Founder Dean and Director of CADDS and Prof. (Dr.) B. Rajendra Prasad graced the occasion.

The programme was attended by the Principals, Vice Principals, Heads of the Departments, postgraduate and undergraduate students of neighbouring institutions. Vote of thanks was delivered by the Dean of Students Welfare, Prof. (Dr.) Priyadarshini Hegde.

This solemn programme was followed by the 40th Continuing Dental Education Programme conducted by the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. 140 participants registered for the lecture session and 30 for the hands on session of the Continuing Dental Health Programme sponsored by Coltene Whaledent India.

The resource person Prof. (Dr.) Jayashree Hegde, a leading Endodontist of International repute emphasized on the various modern post and core treatment options available to clinical practitioner. This was followed by a demonstration and hands on session of the techniques employed in the use of Paracore fibre post systems and HyFlex EDM file system.
