Department of Pediatrics of K.S. Hegde Medical Academy in association with Indian Academy of Pediatrics, S.K. Branch organized a Unique Continuing Medical Education Programme (CME) on Pediatric Rheumatology update on 26/02/2017.
Pediatric Rheumatology relatively new branch in the field of pediatrics which exclusively treats the children with joint pain and fever.
Dr. Jayaprakash Shetty, Registrar of K.S. Hegde Medical Academy was Chief Guest of this CME. He in his address emphasized that Pediatric Rheumatologist is a need of the hour as an expert to treat the children who has ailments like musculoskeletal pain, skin rash and fever, where these children invariably suffer from Pediatric Rheumatological disorder. India has very few centres which runs the fellowship programme in Pediatric Rheumatology unless and until pediatricians undergo this fellowship programme, we lack expertise in this field, a CME update on Pediatric Rheumatology like this will ensure all the Pediatricians to upgrade their knowledge in this field so that they can treat needy patients.
Dr. Santosh Soans, President elect Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Dr (Major) Rajesh, President Indian Academy of Pediatrics, S.K branch, were the Guests of honor. Dr. Anand Rao, Pediatric Rheumatologist, Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, Dr. Suma Balan, Pediatric Rheumatologist Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, Dr. Sajjan Shenoy, consultant Rheumatologist, KMC Hospital, Mangalore, Dr. Rathika Shenoy, Professor of Pediatrics, K.S.Hegde Medical Academy were the Resource persons.
Dr. Vijaya Shenoy, Professor & HOD, Pediatrics and Organizing Chairperson, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sumanth Shetty, Professor of Pediatrics proposed the Vote of thanks. More than 150 Pediatricians participated in the unique CME programme.
