K S Hegde Medical Academy's National Service Scheme Programme Officers conducted BLS and First Aid training programmes on 31st July at NUMEDISIM, KSHEMA. NUMEDISIM is Nitte University's skills training centre were medical and paramedical students are trained using advanced manniquines before they personally interact with patients. NSS unit of Nitte University has taken up the project of training public regarding Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid. Dr Sumlatha R Shetty, Nitte University NSS Programme Co-ordinator, Dr Sachin K S and Mr Shashi Kumar Shetty organised this programme under the NSS banner. The first training was conducted for Programme Officers of NSS from Mangalore University hailing from Kodagu, Udupi and Mangalore district. More than 115 Programme Officers with Mangalore University NSS Co-ordinator Dr Vinitha Rai benefited from this programme. Dr Anand Bangera, Professor and HOD, Dept of Anaesthesiology KSHEMA inaugurate the programme. Dr Sripad G Mehandale and Dr Sumlatha R Shetty, Professor of Anesthesiology Department, KSHEMA were the resource persons.
