The Department of MCA had organized a Project Exhibition, ‘MCA-exPro’17 on 8th November 2017in the department premises. The aim of the exhibition was to showcase the work done by the students of the Department, encourage them to think innovatively and develop projects that are helpful to the society.
The Principal of NMAM.I.T, Nitte, Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunker inaugurated the exhibition. Addressing the gathering the Principal appreciated the Head of the Department Dr. Surendra Shetty and the faculty of the Department for organizing the event and advised them to conduct the event every year. Highlighting the importance of doing projects during their study, the Principal encouraged the students to take up projects helpful to the society. Speaking during the event, Dr. I. Ramesh Mithanthay, the Vice Principal of NMAM.I.T, Nitte, congratulated the students for their work and also encouraged the students to take up more work that will benefit the society. Dr. Surendra Shetty, Professor & Head, Department of MCA, NMAM.I.T, Nitte welcomed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K.M.Hegde, Director, Department of MCA, NMAMIT, Nitte, advised the students to take up projects in Artificial Intelligence, since it an emerging area. Dr. Sudesh Bekal, Dean(R&D), NMAM.I.T, Nitte, also scruitinized the projects and appreciated the students for their work. A total of 16 teams, comprising all the students of fifth semester participated in the competition with enthusiasm, and exhibited their works. Each team had worked on unique projects taking the help from the faculty members. All the projects were of good quality and worked satisfactorily as per the design. However, for the sake of giving prizes, two best projects were selected based on certain judgment criteria.
The prize winning projects are as follows:
First Prize: Web Solutions for Community Health Department and Satellite Primary Health Centres, by Punith Kumar S. R, guided by Mr. Anantha Murthy.
Second Prize: Insemination Report Management in Dairy System, by Darshana Kodler, Chaitnya Bhat G, guided by Ms. Mangala A.G
Ms. Sarika Hegde, Associate Professor, Department of CS & E, NMAMIT, Nitte and Ms. Sharada Shenoy, Associate Professor, Department of CS & E, NMAM.I.T, Nitte helped in evaluating the projects.
Ms. Mamatha Balipa coordinated the projects throughout the semester, right from the formation of teams, till the prize distribution. All the faculty and staff members of the department helped the students with their timely guidance and support.
