Inaugurating training in management of trauma victims – International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) course at Nitte Simulation Centre (NU-MEDISIM), Dr Prakash P S, Dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) stressed the need for careful transfer of accident victims from the site of incident to emergency department. He highlighted the risks of improper patient handling and shifting which may end up in secondary injuries leading to poor outcome. He also urged all to hasten the shifting of trauma patients to appropriate medical facility for best survival rates. Dr Jayapraksh Shetty, Registrar, KSHEMA, Dr Raveendra U S, Coordinator, NU-MEISIM, Dr Major Shivakumar Hirematt, Medical Superintendent, K S Hegde Hospital were present. Dr Siddharth Shetty, Additional Professor of Department of Orthopaedics welcomed the gathering. Dr Rajshekar Mohan, Prof & HOD of Surgery proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Sripada G Mehandale, Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology was master of ceremony. More than 35 doctors & paramedical personnel from different institutions were trained and certified by the international agency based in USA.
