A Guest Lecture - NUCSReM

A Guest Lecture on “Regenerative Medicine - An approach to create living, functional tissues to repair and restore the normal functions of a damaged organ” was organized by NUCSReM (Stem cell lab), KSHEMA on 11th June, 2018. The Guest Lecture was delivered by Dr. Arun Kumar, Assoc. Professor & Program Director Biotechnology, Thomas Jefferson Universities & Hospitals, Philadelphia, USA.

Dr. Basan Gowda S. Kurkalli, Professor, NUCSReM introduced the speaker and welcomed the gathering.

Dr. Arun Kumar spoke at length on recent advances in medical technology where stem cells are being employed to create functional tissue and organ regeneration through nanofibre based scaffold technology and 3D bone organ printing.

The lecture was attended by Prof. (Dr.) B. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University); Prof. (Dr.) P. S. Prakash, Dean & Prof. (Dr.) K. Jayaprakash Shetty, Vice-Dean, KSHEMA; Prof. C. S. Shastry, Principal, NGSMIPS; faculty & research scholars of constituent colleges of Nitte (DU); postgraduate students of Mangalore University, Kuvempu University and undergraduate students from Sri. Bhuvanendra College, Karkala.

Dr. A. Veena Shetty, Additional Professor & Research Coordinator, NUCSReM proposed the Vote of thanks and presented a memento to Dr. Arun Kumar as a token of appreciation and gratitude.
