The Central Research Laboratory of Nitte (Deemed to be University) organized a public awareness program, "NANO JATHA 2019” in association with Karnataka Science & Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS) on 5th December 2019 at the New Auditorium, ABSMIDS. Nano Jatha 2019 was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjeeva Rai, Chief, Fr. Muller Research Center, Mangalore. The inaugural function was presided over by Prof (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU. Prof. (Dr) Alka Kulkarni, Registrar welcomed the gathering.
The Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Govt. of Karnataka has been organizing an annual international nano event, Bengaluru India Nano since 2007, under the guidance of Vision Group on Nanotechnology headed by Bharat Ratna Prof. C N R Rao, FRS, Linus Pauling Research Professor and Honorary President, JNCASR. To showcase the current knowledge in nanoscience & technology and to disseminate information about Bangalore India Nano, KSTePS organises special pre-events comprising lectures by expert scientists in the field, video shows, interactive sessions with the audience and exhibitions with several demonstrations illustrating nanoscience and technology.
Nitte (Deemed to be University) was identified as one of the host institutes to organize the Nano Jatha 2019. Dr. S. Krishna Prasad, Scientist G CeNS was the Program Coordinator from KSTePS and Coordinators from Nitte DU included Prof. (Dr) Suchetha Kumari N, KSHEMA, Prof.(Dr) Biju Thomas, ABSMIDS, Dr. Marina Koland, NGSMIPS, and Dr. Sudharshan, NUCSER.

Ms. Rajalakshmi, Technical Program Associate from KSTePS highlighted nanoscience and nano kit through a demonstration and video show.
More than 300 delegates comprising of undergraduates, postgraduates and Ph.D. scholars registered for Nano Jatha-2019 from Dental, Medical, Pharmacy, Nursing and Biological Science colleges, in and around Mangalore. The scientific lectures were followed by an e-poster competition on Nanotechnology.
