The initiative, which now a week-old, has been launched in association with Sevanjali Pratistana, Farangipet. Under the scheme, pregnant women can avail Yellow and Pink card for the treatment. The Pink card is made available at Sevanjali Pratistana, while Yellow card can be obtained from government health centres at Natekal, Sajipa and Boliyar.
One of the primary benefits of the card system is that expecting mothers can avail a 50 per cent discount on various health-related check-up. Further, a normal delivery under the scheme will cost Rs 3,000 and a caesarean will cost Rs 6,000.
The card also facilitates testing undertaken in OPD section, which includes scanning, blood, urine and other primary tests.
However, the card scheme will not cover special check-up, special medicines, ICU charges, blood-related procedural costs and child care expenses.
K S Hegde Charitable Hospital has also received the ICMR approval to conduct coronavirus tests. The COVID-19 testing lab at KS Hegde was approved on May 25 and has since then received over 450 samples for testing. Among the test samples received, 300 are from Udupi and 150 from Dakshina Kannada.
The highlights of the laboratory include, SARS-CoV-2 RNA qualitative test, real time RT-PCR method for COVID-19, FDA approved reagent kits, BL accredited lab, operated by a dedicated team of experts, one day delivery of results and free Viral Transport Media (VTM).
As per the Supreme Court guidelines, a uniform rate has been applied on cost on conducting coronavirus test. If the patient comes to the hospital directly to undergo tests, it will cost Rs 4,000. Meanwhile, if the samples have been sent by Wenlock or are received under the Ayushman Bharat scheme the cost will be Rs 2,500.
