The text presents Lucknow as a Radical City, a city that does not conform to conventions of polity, gender, religion, education, entertainment, and revolt. Queer Lucknow is a study of the LGBTQ+ histories of the city. The queer archive - books, biographical records, poetry, newspapers, photographs, paintings, illustrations, posters and digital references - is fragmented and when pieced together, reveal the queer histories of Lucknow that counters the formalist understanding of the gendered and sexual histories of the city.
