News from Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital | International Nurses Day

The Nursing Services Department of Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day on 12th May 20Nurse's day celebration with the theme NurZcoatZ & Colours 2022 started off with a cultural event. Various departments o22 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, Founder of Modern Nursing. 

The 12-day celebration was inaugurated on April 30th by Prof. (Dr.) Fathima D'silva, Principal, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Mrs. Revathi S, Nursing Superintendent, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Deralakatte and Major (Dr.) Shivakumar Hiremath, Medical Superintendent, JKSHCH. 

As a part of the celebration, many indoor competitions such as poster presentation, waste to wealth, rangoli, drawing, nurses got talent, cultural, bedside nursing excellence, badminton (individual) were held between 30th April and 11th May 2022. Many fun games were organized and few of the nurses took part in the toast master’s public speaking session organized by Nitte DU. 

On 12th May, Nurse's day celebration with the theme NurZcoatZ & Colours 2022 started off with a cultural event. Various departments of JKSHCH participated in this event. The Valedictory function was held at 2:30 PM and was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte DU. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Shaila Shridhar, Nursing Superintendent, Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre and Guests of Honor Mrs. Sadhana Deshmukh, Staff Development Director, Nitte DU and Prof. Sabitha Nayak, Vice-Principal, NUINS were present. The function started with a prayer dance, followed by a floral tribute to Florence Nightingale and cake cutting. Two veteran Nurses of JKSHCH, Ms. Metilda Dsouza and Ms. Clotilda Machado were felicitated for their extraordinary service. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions and 5 nurses were awarded the Best Nurses Award 2021-22. 

Ms. Darryl MS Aranha, In-charge Nursing Superintendent welcomed the gathering; Mrs. Vickypriya Fernandes, Nurse Educator delivered the Nurses Week Report and Ms. Judy Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. The program concluded with a skit performed by nurses, which gave the audience an insight to the life of Florence Nightingale.
