News from NGSMIPS | Workshop

Design of experiment & applications of the BROOKFIELD VISCOMETER The Department of Pharmaceutics, NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a workshop on 21st & 22nd May 2022. Dr. M. S. Ravi, Professor & Head, Dept. of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, ABSMIDS was the chief guest.

The workshop started with the opening remarks and formal introduction of the chief guest by Dr. CS Shastry, Principal followed by a brief introduction of the topic by the Vice Principal, Dr. R. Narayana Charyulu. The Chief Guest, Dr. M. S. Ravi addressed the gathering and emphasized on the importance of conducting such workshops and the benefit the students would derive. The formal inaugural function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Marina Koland. The workshop was attended by students, research scholars, faculties and participants from different colleges and constituent institutions of Nitte (DU).

Day 01: Resource Person - Dr. Lalit Kumar: Topic - Qbd and hands-on training on Design of Experiment

Dr. Lalit Kumar, Asst. Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal elaborated on Quality by Design (QBD) and the importance of inculcating quality in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Lalit explained the various steps involved in QBD, different designs available with the Design of Expert (DoE) and various criteria to be taken into consideration while applying DoE. The workshop concluded with a hands-on training of the DoE software, where students learned the basics of using the software. The students were acquainted with the use of DoE in screening, optimization and validation of the pharmaceutical design and also in analyzing the obtained results.

Day 02: Resource Person - Mr. Rahul Mishra: Topic - Fundamentals of Viscosity measurement and Applications and hands-on demo of the Brookfield Viscometer.

Mr. Rahul, Technical Marketing Head, Aspire Inc, Bangalore explained the components and types of Brookfield viscometer. He also highlighted the applications of the Texture Analyser. The lecture was followed by a hands-on demo of the Brookfield viscometer with a variety of samples.

Dr. Sneh Priya, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutics, delivered the vote of thanks and the program concluded with the awarding of certificates to the delegates.
