News from NUCSER | Lecture on Student Feedback Scores: A measure of popularity or quality of teaching?

The Institutional Committee for Development of Professional Competence in Teaching (ICDPCT)-NUCSER organized a lecture on Student feedback scores: A measure of popularity or quality of teaching? on 25th July 2022 at NUCSER.

The resource person was Prof. Dr. KP Mohanan, co-founder ThinQ. Prof. Mohanan shared his experiences at the National University of Singapore vis-à-vis strategies regarding improving student learning outcomes. He also highlighted the impact of popular learning outcome measures - outstanding educator award; student feedback surveys; promotion and tenure system; and professional development programs for junior faculty - on the quality of teaching and the motives of teaching. Prof. Mohanan also shared an example of a linguistics program, co-designed with Prof. Dr. Tara Mohanan, which was a resounding success in meeting the program outcomes and learning outcomes. After the lecture presentation, Prof. Mohanan interacted with the faculty participants in detail on various aspects of the lecture.

The lecture closed with the vote of thanks by Dr. Arshdeep Sidhu, Member Secretary ICDPCT-NUCSER. Prof. Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director NUCSER presented Prof. Mohanan with a memento as a token of gratitude.
