The Department of Community Medicine organized a follow-up Health Camp / Outreach Program, "Medical health check-up camp" on 8th March 2023 for the students of Vivekananda Coaching Centre, Ramakrishna Ashram, Mangalore.

A General Health Check-up was conducted by Dr. K Pavan Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KSHEMA, and Postgraduates of Community Medicine - Dr Monisha Mary, Dr Meghana M, Dr Saniya and Medical Social Worker Mr Ravi. Vision testing was done by ophthalmology post graduates, Dr. Gokul Suresh and Dr Akanksha Prabhu.

A dental health checkup and treatment was conducted by a dental team led by the Head of Pedodontics, Dr. Manju R.

Eight children present during the visit, identified to have vision problems on the first visit, were tested by ophthalmology postgraduates. Students of 4th and 5th standard were treated for dental problems. Two students absent during the first visit were screened and found to have no health problems and adequate personal hygiene. Correction with spectacles was advised for one child. One child was treated for allergic conjunctivitis. Three children requiring tertiary care for eye problems were advised to visit the ophthalmology department, KSHEMA, with the consent of the parents, for further management. The rest of them were advised to review with refraction yearly.

The next visit, for children who could not be treated in this visit, was discussed and scheduled for 18th February 2023.
