News from KSHEMA | A lecture on ‘Research Opportunities in Pharmacoepidemiology"

The Dept. of Pharmacology organized a lecture on ‘Research Opportunities in Pharmacoepidemiology" by Dr. Sushama Kattinakere Sreedhara, (MBBS, MSPH), Alumna, MBBS 2006 batch on 23rd May 2023 at K S Hegde Medical Academy. Dr. Sushama, Sr. Research Specialist, Division of Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacoeconomics, Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA, shared her adventurous journey from KSHEMA to Harvard Medical School. During the interaction, she spoke of the admission process, scope for Indian medical and allied health graduates in US Universities and the skills and aptitude required in the workplace. She also spoke of her experience in pharmacoepidemiology and answered questions raised by the students.

Dr. Sachidananda Adiga, Professor, Pharmacology organized the program and moderated the session.

Dr. Rajendra Holla, Professor & Head, Dept. of Pharmacology welcomed the guests, dignitaries and participants. Dr. Nikhil Shetty, Associate Professor, Plastic Surgery and Secretary, KSHEMA Alumni Association, spoke on the importance of interacting with distinguished alumni so that undergraduates & postgraduates benefit from such interactions. Dr. Sowmya, Sr. Resident, Pharmacology introduced the guest Dr. Sushama.

Around 40 participants (faculty & postgraduates of Pharmacology, Public Health, Pharmacy Practice, Physiology, Forensic Medicine & Community Medicine) participated in this session. Dr. Ravichandra V, Additional Professor, Pharmacology, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Sneha Antony compered the session.
