News from NUCSER | Translating Biology to Industry: A Hands-on Training in Bioprocess Technologies

The Departments of Bio & Nano Technology and Food Safety & Nutrition, Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research (NUCSER), jointly organised a three-day industry-academia workshop titled “Translating Biology to Industry: A Hands-on Training in Bioprocess Technologies” from 18th to 20th February 2026 at the college premises. The workshop was designed to provide comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical exposure in fermentation and bioprocess technology.

Dr. Jagadeesh Bhat, Manager & Lead, Business Development at GangaGen Biotechnologies inaugurated the workshop and delivered an insightful overview of fermentation technology, highlighting its industrial relevance and recent advancements. Mr. Samuel Reinhard, Senior Scientist at Anthem Biosciences, Bangalore, served as the key expert on the first day. He delivered sessions on regulatory aspects in the bioprocess industries and conducted a hands-on training session on fermentation setup, providing participants with practical exposure to the equipment and operational procedures.

Prof. (Dr) Indrani Karunasagar, Dr. Ramya Harsha, Dr. Akhila D S, Dr. Mamatha B and Dr. Neetha Nirupam served as resource persons, delivering expert sessions and guiding participants through the program's technical and hands-on components. The workshop concluded with a Quiz to assess participants' knowledge.

The three-day workshop ended with a valedictory function. Mr. Jagadeesh Bhat from Solara Active Pharma Sciences Ltd, Baikampady was the Chief Guest. A total of 32 participants from the industry and various institutions across Karnataka participated in the workshop.
