News from NUINS | NUINS - Annual Sports Day “Sportif - Jour” 2026

The Annual Sports Day “Sportif - Jour” of Nite Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences (NUINS) was held on 2nd March 2026 at the Nitte Grounds, Deralakatte. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 500 students and 40 staff members, making it a lively celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork and healthy competition.

The program was graced by Ms. Shreema Priyadarshini, International Athlete from Mangalore, as the Chief Guest. The event began with a ceremonial march past by the students, followed by the Guard of Honour and hoisting of the sports flag. Ms. Sandra, III BSc Nursing student, delivered the welcome address. The sports flame was lit by student representatives, and the oath-taking ceremony was led by Royston of IV BSc Nursing.

Prof. (Dr) Sabitha Nayak, Vice Principal, NUINS, delivered the presidential address. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sports Chairperson Ms. Grenita, III BSc Nursing.

• Overall Championship: Gusto, II BSc
• Best Athlete (Men): Royston Martis, IV BSc
• Best Athlete (Women): Deena BG, I GNM

The event was a grand success, promoting sports excellence, teamwork and holistic development among students while reinforcing the importance of physical well-being in alignment with SDG Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
