Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics and the Department of Public Health Dentistry AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, in association with Mangalore Orthodontic Study Group (MOSG) and the Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) organized a special program titled “Brace the Bay – From Perfect Smiles to Pristine Shores,” an environmental awareness and beach-cleaning initiative, on 8 October 2026 at Peribail Beach, Someshwara.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental responsibility, encourage proper waste disposal,
and highlight the importance of maintaining clean coastal environments for public health and
ecological well-being. Faculty members, staff, postgraduate students and other participants came
together at the beach and took part in the cleaning activity.
The program reinforced the message that health and well-being extend beyond clinical care
and include a clean, safe and sustainable environment. It also provided an opportunity for
students and staff to demonstrate civic responsibility and contribute to keeping the coastal
surroundings clean.
