The Technical Club and NSS Unit of NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte, jointly organized a technical seminar on “Overview of Geospatial Technologies and Its Applications” on 9 October 2026. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Bhojaraja, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte. The session aimed to familiarize students with the fundamentals of geospatial technologies and their growing importance in various engineering and scientific applications.
The resource person explained key technologies, including Global Positioning System (GPS/GNSS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), mapping, and surveying. He highlighted their applications in infrastructure development, land management, environmental monitoring, urban planning, and disaster management, emphasizing how these technologies contribute to efficient decision-making and sustainable development.
The seminar enhanced students’ awareness of modern geospatial technologies and their practical applications in the engineering field. The interactive knowledge-sharing session encouraged students to explore emerging technological trends and understand their relevance to future career opportunities.
