The Nitte Climate Action Program (NCAP) 2026, organized by SDG Cell of Nitte DU was conducted to create awareness among school students regarding climate change, environmental sustainability, and the importance of individual and collective action towards a sustainable future.
As part of NCAP 2026, the SDG team reached out to 15 schools engaging more than 4,000 students through awareness sessions on climate action and environmental sustainability. The sessions addressed important topics such as climate change, environmental conservation, water and energy conservation, waste management, reduction of single-use plastics, and the role of students in promoting sustainable practices.
To provide students with an opportunity to express their understanding through creativity and innovation, a Model Making Competition was conducted.
The program was concluded with the valedictory program held on 18 September 2026.
Mr. Rajendra Kalbavi, Executive Director, D.K. Nirmithi Kendra, NITK Surathkal, was the Chief Guest for the event. Dr. Suma Ballal, Deputy Registrar, Nitte DU and Chief Coordinator of the SDG Cell, Nitte DU, presided over the program. Mr. Kalbavi, in his address, encouraged the students to develop greater awareness and responsibility towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.
