A medical checkup programme at a government primary school, Nitte - Kshema

A medical checkup programme was held on 28.01.2015 at a government primary school, Nitte, on the topic personal hygiene. This was carried out by the interns posted in Nitte, CHC under department of Community medicine, KSHEMA.

AIM:
1. To evaluate the personal hygiene and nutritional status of children.
2. To do a thorough medical checkup of students.
3. To educate the students on the importance of drinking clean drinking water.



The students were examined to detect any pallor or respiratory diseases. Students were advised to cut their nails regularly, wash their hands before and after food, to wear chappals while playing to avoid injury. They were also advised to keep the surrounding clean. Need to seek medical advice and help were given more importance. They were also told about the importance of drinking clean water as there were many cases of hepatitis reporting to the Nitte CHC. They were advised to boil the water and then consume it. This programme was conducted by the interns Dr. Ahmad Faizal and Dr.Neha Hussain under the guidance of our Medical Officer Dr.Sarala Adoor, Nitte CHC.The students who were suspected of any medical illness, was given first line medication under the supervision of our Medical Officer. Students who need advanced medical care were referred to higher centre.
