News from NIPT | World Environment Day 2026 River Revolution 2.0 - Clean Kumaradhara - Green Subrahmanya

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) commemorated World Environment Day 2026 by organizing “River Revolution 2.0”, a large-scale environmental conservation and cleanliness drive at Kukke Subrahmanya Temple and the Kumaradhara River on 5th June 2026. The program was inaugurated by Sri Aravind Ayyappa Suttagundi, Executive officer, Kukke Subrahmanya Temple and Sri Na. Seetharam, Saha Seva Pramukh, Seva Bharathi, Dakshina Prantha, Karnataka. The event was presided over by Prof. (Dr) Sandeep Rai, Dean, KS Hegde Medical Academy.

Dr. Dhanesh Kumar KU, Principal, NIPT, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of environmental stewardship and community participation. The dignitaries appreciated the initiative and commended the commitment of NIPT faculty and students towards environmental conservation and social responsibility. Dr. Purusotham Chippala, Professor, NIPT delivered the vote of thanks.

Following the inaugural session, students and faculty were divided into four groups to undertake cleanliness and beautification activities at various locations. They cleaned the Kumaradhara River by removing discarded clothes, plastic waste and other non-biodegradable materials; carried out cleaning and painting activities around the river premises; conducted cleanliness drives around the Kukke Subrahmanya bus stand and nearby streets and cleaned the temple premises & Adhisubrahmanya area.

Mr. Rakesh Krishna Kovela served as the Convenor and Mr. Nityal Kumar as the Coordinator of the program. Supported by the Kukke Subrahmanya Temple authorities, the initiative concluded successfully at 4:00 PM, reinforcing NIPT’s commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement and the preservation of sacred ecological spaces.









News from NIPT | Swachhata Shramadan

Swachh Sena volunteers of Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) in association with Ramakrishna Mission, Mangalore organized a Swachhata Shramadan on 7th June 2026, near the Bus Stand at State Bank. The event was flagged off at 7.20 am by Sri. Abraham Vinayalal Bangera, Pastorate, CSI St. Paul’s English Church, State Bank of India, Mangaluru. Following the inauguration, the volunteers who were divided into batches undertook extensive cleaning activities by removing the plastic wastes & debris accumulated on the pavements near the bus stand and cleaning the footpaths & waiting areas inside the terminal. The compound walls that were unhygienic due to public urination were thoroughly washed and cleaned.The debris, plastic wastes & silt accumulated inside the bus stand obstructing the free flow of water in the premises were removed. Approximately 3000 kg of waste was collected as a part of the event and disposed of responsibly.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Jayesh Chandran (Coordinator, Criterion NAAC 7, NIPT) with the support of Mr. Rakesh Krishna, Faculty, NIPT. Student Council Members, Mr. Joyson, Mr. Ashwin P S and Ms. Rebica were in charge of the event.

News from NIPT | Swachhata Shramadan -SERVICE to SACRED

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) in association with the Ramakrishna Mission, Mangalore organized a Swachhata Shramadan -SERVICE to SACRED, on 3rd May 2026, covering areas from Rosario Cathedral to St. Anns College.

The event was flagged off at 7:30 a.m by Fr. Valerian D’Souza, Head, Rosario Cathedral and Sri BHV Prasad, Director, MRPL-ONGC. Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Sri Keshav Patali (MRPL), Mr. Ranjan Bellarpady (Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru) and faculty members of NIPT participated in the event along with the swachh seva volunteers. Plastic waste, flex banners and debris which had accumulated on the roads and pavements were removed. Nearly 3000 kgs of waste was collected and disposed of responsibly.

The student in charge of the event was Ashwin P S (Student Council Member). Mr. Jayesh Chandran, Coordinator, Criterion NAAC 7, coordinated the event.

News from NIPT | NIPT Institution Day (KALPATARU) 2026

The Institution Day of NIPT - KALPATARU was successfully held on the 8th April 2026 at KS Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte. The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Sandeep Srivastava, Vice Chancellor, KLE University, Belgaum; Guest of Honour Dr. Donald G. Manlapaz, Dean, College of Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines and Presiding Officer Sri Vishal Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University.

Principal, Prof. Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K U welcomed the gathering and presented the Annual Report for 2025-26. Academic toppers were awarded for their achievements. Mobility aids were distributed to individuals in need, highlighting the social commitment of the institution.

The Pearl Jubilee logo and upcoming International Physiotherapy Conference “PhysioPanacea 4.0” were officially released by Mr. Nityal Kumar and Mr. Rakesh Krishna respectively. The formal session was followed by vibrant cultural performances by students from various batches. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.Mayuri Shukla, Faculty Advisor, Student Council.





News from NIPT | Mangalore Physiocon 2026

Students and faculty members of Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy participated in the Mangalore Physiocon 2026, held on 10th & 11th April 2026. The conference featured a wide range of academic and cultural activities including plenary sessions, panel discussions, scientific paper and poster presentations, as well as cultural programs.

Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, NIPT, served as the Organizing Secretary of the conference. Mr. Rakesh Krishna Kovela, Assoc. Professor, NIPT was a member of the Scientific Committee. Dr. Abeeshna Ashok, Assoc. Professor delivered a session on “Tele Cardiac Rehabilitation in Phase II Programs: Strategies for Safety, Exercise Progression, and Patient Engagement.”

Mr. Jayesh Chandran, Asst. Professor G II, received the Significant Contribution award for his valuable commitment and contributions to the physiotherapy profession.

All participating students showcased their research work through poster presentations. The conference also included a cultural night on 10th April, followed by a DJ event on 11th April, providing a platform for both academic enrichment and social engagement. The conference provided valuable exposure to advanced research, meaningful professional interactions and diverse global perspectives in the field of physiotherapy.

News from NIPT | MoU with Aikya Sports Academy, Mangaluru

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aikya Sports Academy, Mangaluru on 31st March 2026 in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Mr. Jayaraj, Administrative Partner of Aikya Sports Foundation and Mr. Manohar Amin, Chairman of the Karnataka Cricket Association (KCA), Mangaluru Zone. This strategic collaboration marks an important step toward strengthening academic–clinical integration and promoting excellence in sports rehabilitation and physiotherapy education. It will provide postgraduate students with enhanced opportunities for hands-on training, exposure to real-world clinical scenarios and the development of advanced clinical competencies, particularly in the domain of sports physiotherapy.



News from NIPT | Pre Conference Workshop - Mangalore Physiocon 2026

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) organised a pre-conference workshop as part of Mangalore Physiocon 2026 on 9th April 2026 at Chintana Hall, Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital. The resource person for the event was Dr. Donald Manlapaz, Dean, College of Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. Dr. Dhanesh Kumar, Principal, NIPT welcomed the gathering. Chief guest Dr. Sandeep Rai highlighted the importance of physiotherapy in everyday life. Mr.Jayesh Chandran, Convenor of the event delivered the vote of thanks.

Dr. Manlapaz's session involved AI-mediated exercises designed to improve balance in individuals facing challenges commonly associated with vestibular dysfunction. Participants included students / faculty from Dayananda Sagar University, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Kerala University of Health Sciences and from colleges in & around Mangaluru.

News from NIPT | Sri N V Hegde memorial cricket tournament

Sri N V Hegde Memorial Cricket Tournament, Nitte Physio Premier League - Season 3, a South India level Intercollegiate Physiotherapy Cricket Championship was organized by Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) at Nitte Grounds, Deralakatte on 9th & 10th March 2026. The tournament witnessed 16 teams across South India representing Universities/ Colleges from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Shikhar Shetty, Cricketer representing the Karnataka team graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, NIPT and Organizing Chairman of the event welcomed the gathering. Prof. (Dr) M Shantaram Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte (DU) presided over the function and Prof. (Dr) M S Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte DU was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Jayesh Chandran, Organizing Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks. Chancellor Sri. Vishal Hegde met all the team captains and wished them good luck for the tournament.

The tournament organized as a floodlit event, featured 24 league matches divided into four pools, with pool winners advancing to the semi-finals, followed by the final. On Day 1, 19 league matches were played, continuing until 1:30 a.m. Day 2 included the remaining league matches along with the semi-finals and final.

Prof. (Dr) Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, NDU was the chief guest for the valedictory function and Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U presided over the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Rakesh Krishna, Convenor, N2PL Season 3. KTG College of Physiotherapy, Bengaluru emerged as Winners and RV College of Physiotherapy, Bengaluru were the Runners.

News from NIPT | Swacch Sena Event

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) in association with the Ramakrishna Mission, Mangalore organized a Swachhata Shramadan - 'Service to Sacred', near Kadri Temple on 1st March 2026. Mr. Jayesh Chandran (Coordinator, Criterion NAAC 7, NIPT) made the necessary arrangements for the event. Faculty members Dr. Purusotham Chippala, Ms. Ruchita Narsia (Swachh Sena Coordinator, NIPT), Mr. Hemanth Kumar and Swachh Sena volunteers of NIPT actively participated in the Shramadan.

The event was flagged off at 7.30 am by Dr. Manjiah Shetty (Senior Health Officer, Mangalore City Corporation) and Mr. Pranjal Ghate (Economist, Government of Ontario, Canada). The event was attended by Capt. Ganesh Karnik and Mr. Ranjan Bellarpady of Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru. Following the inauguration, the volunteers were divided into two batches - one group started cleaning the parking area outside the Kadri Temple by removing the plastics & debris while the other group cleaned the wastes near the circle adjacent to the temple.

The student in charge for the event was Mr. Ashwin P S (Student council member, NIPT).

News from NIPT | LASYA 2025-26

The annual cultural event of Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) LASYA 2025-26 was held on 20th February 2026 at KS Hegde Auditorium.

Chief Guest for the occasion was Smt. Vidushi Shardamani Shekhar, Director, Sanathana Natyalaya, Mangaluru and the Guest of Honour was Dr. Vijith Vittal Shetty, Professor, KSHEMA. Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U,Principal, NIPT welcomed the gathering and emphasized the significance of cultural engagement in the holistic development of students. Both the dignitaries highlighted the importance of extra-curricular activities alongside academic pursuits to nurture creativity, confidence, teamwork and leadership qualities. Ms.Mayuri Shukla, Faculty, NIPT delivered the vote of thanks.

Following the formal inaugural function, the event transitioned into a series of informal cultural competitions and performances including Folk dance, Skits, Mad-Ad presentations, Fashion show and special performances. Students showcased remarkable talent, creativity & coordination through diverse themes and celebrated cultural diversity while strengthening the spirit of unity and collaboration.

News from NIPT | Cleanliness Drive

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) in association with the Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru organized a cleanliness drive -Swachhata Shramadan at Old Kankanady Road, Mangalore on 1st February 2026. The event was flagged off at 7:30 am by Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator, Fr. Muller Medical College Hospital and Sri. Anil Kumar S Bhoomreddi, Additional Superintendent of Police, DK. Following the inauguration, the volunteers started cleaning the pavement and the adjacent areas by removing the stones, debris, bagasse and branches of trees along with other wastes.

The event organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, NIPT was coordinated by Mr. Jayesh Chandran, Coordinator, Criterion NAAC 7- NIPT. The student in charge for the event was Mr. Joyson, Student Council Member, NIPT.

News from NIPT | Physioquotient Workshop

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy successfully organized a two-day workshop titled “PhysioQuotient” on 23rd & 24th January 2026 at Chintana Hall, Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital.

The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Akshay Agarwal, a Corporate Trainer and an Emotional Intelligence & Leadership Facilitator from New Delhi. Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte University, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K. U, Principal, NIPT who highlighted the relevance and need for the workshop in contemporary physiotherapy practice. Dr. Harsha Halahalli emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship, the core sense of well-being, happiness and a positive mindset, along with their physiological responses. He also elaborated on the dimensions of emotional expressions and explained how emotions drive actions, subsequently influencing both the body and the mind.

During the two-day workshop, Mr. Akshay Agarwal outlined the significance of emotional and leadership intelligence in the professional growth of physiotherapists. The sessions were highly interactive, encouraging active involvement from participants. He focused on enhancing communication skills, mutual respect, self-belief and leadership qualities, enabling participants to understand the attributes required to become successful physiopreneur.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Rakesh Krishna Kovela, Assoc. Professor and Convenor of the program. A total of 130 delegates attended the workshop which included physiotherapy interns, postgraduates and faculty members from various colleges across Mangalore.

News from NIPT | Swachhata Shramadan - 'SERVICE to SACRED'

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT), in association with the Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, organized a Swachhata Shramadan - 'SERVICE to SACRED' at Ramakrishna Tapovana, Polali on 4th January, 2026. The event, guided by Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, NIPT, was coordinated by Mr. Jayesh Chandran (Coordinator, Criterion NAAC 7).

The event kicked off at 8:10 am with Pujya Viveka Chaithanyanada Swamiji, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Tapovana, Polali, flagging it off.

Post inauguration, volunteers led by student-in-charge Mr. Joyson, Student Council Member, NIPT, cleaned the pavement outside the tapovana, removing debris, branches and waste.
