Awareness about noise pollution “NISHABDA” - KSHEMA

The Department of ENT, K.S.Hegde Medical Academy has been conducting the project “NISHABDA” since 2000. The highlight of this project is to create awareness about noise pollution and the evaluation of hearing assessment in the high risk population. Previously we have conducted this screening camp in factory workers, traffic police men, drivers and auto rickshaw drivers. This year 2016 as a part of our ongoing project we are conducting the deafness detection camp in traffic personnel on 23rd December in conference hall, office of the commissioner of police, Pandeshwar, Mangalore. The programme will be inaugurated by S. Murugan (I.P.S) Commissioner of Police, Mangalore city and programme will be presided over by Prof (Dr.) Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor, NITTE University. The traffic personnel who are working in the busy traffic areas are exposed to loud noise. This screening camp will help to identify the traffic police personnel whose hearing is affected and they can take adequate steps to prevent further hearing deterioration.
