In-house training programme - KSHEMA

The Department of Biochemistry organised an in-house training programme in collaboration with Biorad Laboratories (India) Pvt Ltd on 24 February 2016 at the clinical biochemistry laboratory, Justice K.S Hegde Charitable Hospital.

The key resource persons, Mr. Shivashankar and Mr. Sridhar addressed the participants and spoke at length on laboratory quality control.


The participants comprised of teaching faculty, lab technicians, MD post graduate students and MLT interns who benefited greatly from this programme.


Good quality control ensures both precision and accuracy of the patient’s laboratory reports. Mr. Shivshankar emphasized on the need for stringent internal and external quality assessment to evaluate overall performance of the laboratory. Basic concepts of quality control were discussed.

Lately, the Biochemistry Laboratory signed up with Biorad for the monthly inter –laboratory proficiency testing in order to deliver value added test reports. The participants were taught how to interpret Biorad EQAs reports and take appropriate actions when necessary.
