Paper published "Understanding the “Cash-Less” Nature of Government-Sponsored Health Insurance Schemes" - KSHEMA, MPH

Mrs. Priyanka Rent, Lecturer, Department of Public Health, published a paper titled ‘Understanding the “Cash-Less” Nature of Government-Sponsored Health Insurance Schemes: Evidence From Mumbai’ in the International Journal Sage Open in November 2015. Her study brought out that despite being enrolled in Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Aarogya Yojana, more than three fifths (63%) of the beneficiaries still incurred Out of Pocket payments for services when admitted in the hospital, the proportion being higher among persons from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families Furthermore, the study found that about a third of the beneficiaries experienced financial catastrophe if indirect expenditure is taken into consideration implying that for the poor, ill-health further deepened existing poverty. Congratulations for her international publication.
