The Department of Psychiatry, K.S Hegde Medical Academy in association with District Health & Family Welfare Department (Mental Health Division, Dakshina Kannada) observed World Schizophrenia Day-2017 on May 24th at K. S. Hegde Charitable Hospital. Dr. Rathnakar , District Leprosy/Blindness/Mental Health Programme Officer, Dakshina Kannada & Dr. Jayanth Kumar Psychiatrist, District Mental Health Programme, Dakshina Kannada were the Chief Guests Dr. Aruna Yadiyal, Associative Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry was the speaker of the day. Dr. Satheesh Rao, Prof. & Head , Dept. of Psychiatry KSHEMA welcomed the guests and audience. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean, K.S.H.E.M.A. presided over the function. Dr.Rathnakar briefly explained about mental health and also about eye donation. Dr. Jayanth explained about the government mental health act .Dr.Aruna Yediyal spoke about schizophrenia and psychoeducation . Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Smitha, Senior Resident, Department of Psychiatry, K.S. H.E.M.A. Around 45 patients and their families participated in this programme.
