Network Mapping of Drinking Water Supply at Nitte Village Panchayath - KSHEMA

The Division of Public Health handed over “Network Mapping of Drinking Water Supply at Nitte Village Panchayath, Udupi using Global Positioning System (GPS)” map to the Community Health Centre, Nitte.

The water distribution pipeline in Nitte village was laid two to three decade back without proper planning. Hence it was challenging for the Panchayath officials to identify the total number of end users as well as to control water wastage. This project of water network mapping was taken over by the division of Public Heath in the year 2016 with the support the Nitte Panchyath and Community Health Centre, Nitte. Global Positioning System devices were used for visualization, networking and mapping of water distribution. Nitte village has eighteen water sources with sixteen bore wells and two water tanks to supply drinking water to more than two thousand households. All of these sources are connected through branches of network to supply drinking water to consumer.

This project will not only help Panchayath officials in water resource management like planning and managing the optimum use of water resources but also to the health department for planning of preventive measures during the epidemic of water borne disease.
