Program held in Government school in Paneer NICO

26th October 2017, Students from Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO), final year BA had organized a fun teaching program for the students of the Higher Primary Government School, Paneer, Derallakate. This was an initiative taken by the students with the help of their Lecturer, Miss Wilma Serrao as a form of a social work.

The main aim was to bring smiles on the faces of the children by giving them a break from their usual school routine. This is done by creating an environment in which they could open up and interact. A list of activities were conducted that would be fun for the children to enjoy through learning.

The students from classes’ first to fifth grade were assembled and then divided into two different groups. An arts and craft session was provided to the children of fourth and fifth section. While the rest of the lower sections were put in one batch where they would be taught by the students volunteer from NICO.

The session involved storytelling, word games, action songs, acoustic music performance by the student volunteers and Arts and Crafts using best out of waste.

On conclusion of the program both the students as well as the teachers present had a wonderful time and shared their appreciation. It was also a learning experience for the student volunteers as future teachers and gave a sense of nostalgia going back to school.
