NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in association with ACG Capsules, Mumbai organized a webinar on New Products and Applications in Hard Capsules on 17th July 2020 at 11:00 AM.
Dr. Jnanadeva Bhat, alumnus of the college and currently holding the position of Head - Formulation R&D; Ms. Anita Solanki, Lead - White Paper & Publications and Ms. Dorene Almeida, Lead - Application Lab in R&D were the speakers. Dr. CS Shastry, Principal welcomed the speakers and the audience. He emphasised the importance of Institute-Industry collaboration and the powerful impact & intellectual contribution the alumni could make, in sharpening and augmenting the program delivery of their alma mater by educating the students to the latest trends & innovations in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. R. Narayana Charyulu, Vice principal introduced the speakers and moderated the session.
The two-hour interactive webinar discussed the basic technologies and latest polymeric combinations used in the manufacture of capsule shells meeting the current demands of pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Jnanadeva Bhat discussed the novel innovations in inhalational drug delivery and the formulation of capsules for this special purpose. Ms. Anita and Ms. Dorene explained the recent developments in the manufacture of gelatin as well as HPMC based capsule shells emphasizing the critical formulation parameters that affect the efficacy of drug products.
The webinar was attended by postgraduate students and faculty members. The highlight of the webinar was the Q&A session. Dr. Jnandev Bhat commended the students for their active participation and probing questions. He promised all possible support to the students in their career pursuits. The webinar concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Narayana Charyulu.
