News from ABSMIDS | CDE program

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with the Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Craniofacial Surgery conducted a CDE program on “Current and Future Trends in Cleft & Craniofacial and Cosmetic Surgery” on 31st December 2022. The invited faculty for the event was Prof (Dr) Hermann F Sailer, Founder, Cleft-Children International Foundation, Zurich, Switzerland. The primary focus of this foundation is to operate cleft lip & palate patients, free of charge and provide them with a life of optimism and confidence. Dr. Sailer has supported over 18000 surgeries at Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Craniofacial Surgery. 

The program began with Dr. Rakshita Kumar, PG welcoming the dignitaries followed by a prayer song by Dr. Shamali Limayee, PG. 

Prof (Dr) Padmaraj Hegde, Head, Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery addressed the gathering and Prof (Dr) US Krishna Nayak, Principal & Dean presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. 

During the course of the lecture Prof. Sailer depicted various treatment modalities in the management of cleft lip and palate. It was a great opportunity for all the postgraduates and interns to interact with such an eminent speaker and enrich their knowledge and skills. 

The lecture was well attended by 125 postgraduates, interns & faculty members, which included postgraduates and staff from neighbouring colleges as well.
