News from NMAMIT | Faculty visit to Penn State University, USA under the International Faculty Development Program

8 faculty from Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology, an Off-campus center of Nitte Deemed to be University are on a visit to Penn State University, Harrisburg, USA under Nitte University’s International Faculty Development Program (IFDP) for a duration of 1 month from 29th March to 28th April 2024.

IFDP was initiated to provide faculty members an enriching international experience during their academic journey. The program will enable faculty to bridge the gaps in higher education, focusing on cross-cultural sharing, building global teaching capacity and enhancing international research networks.

The faculty visiting Penn State University under IFDP are Dr. Rajesh Shetty, Professor, ECE; & Dean (Admissions); Dr. Suryanarayana K, HoD EEE; Dr. Radhakrishna, HoD CCE; Dr. Ashwini B, HoD ISE; Dr. Sukesh Rao M, Assoc. Professor, ECE; Dr. Raghunandan K R, Assoc. Professor, CSE; Dr. Jason Elroy Martis, Assoc.Professor, ISE and Dr. Shivakumar B.R, Asst. Professor Gd III, ECE

IFDP program aims to
  • Identify and outline the best practices in engineering education at a US university and describe approaches to course design, instructional strategies and assessment methods as practiced at PSU
  • Compare and contrast the course content (syllabus) in the courses taught at PSU with comparable courses taught at Nitte DU
  • Identify strategies used in PSU for developing industry-relevant curricula for engineering programs
  • Contribute to developing and implementing 2+1+1 Twinning and 2+2 Dual Degree programs with PSU
  • Establish linkages with counterparts at PSU to develop a sustainable, continued collaboration that is mutually beneficial
  • Apply the learnings from their experience at PSU to improve the effectiveness of teaching-learning at parent departments in NMAMIT / Nitte DU
  • Conduct training programs for colleagues at Nitte DU to share learnings about best practices at PSU
