The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing, NUINS organized a one-day state-level workshop titled "Hands-on Experience - Effective Communication in Research" on May 29, 2024, at the NUINS Learning Centre. The workshop commenced with a welcome address by the Vice Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Sabitha Nayak. Ms. Anju M V, Asst. Professor, OBG Department was the moderator for the day. The session started after the formal inauguration, followed by a pre-test to assess the participants' baseline knowledge.
Prof. (Dr.) Sonia R B D’Souza, HoD, OBG Nursing, Manipal College delivered an insightful presentation on selecting journals for effective communication in research which included practical group activities that engaged participants in hands-on learning.
Mrs. Ranjani P, Asst. Professor, Manipal College of Nursing gave a comprehensive talk on preventing data fabrication, falsification and plagiarism. Her session covered practical strategies to maintain research integrity which was well-received.
In the afternoon session, Prof. (Dr.) Sonia R B D'Souza presented valuable tips for effective communication with journal editors. She conducted practical exercises to reinforce these concepts, allowing participants to practice journal selection and editor communication skills in a guided setting.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory event. Prof. Philomena Fernandes, HoD & Organizing Chairperson, delivered the vote of thanks. 52 participants attended the workshop.
