The Department of Community Medicine organized a Public Awareness Program, "International Women's Day Celebration" on 08-03-2017 at Canara First Grade College. As a part of international women’s day celebration. It was jointly organized by JCI and Centre for Women and Gender Studies (CWGS), The programme was inaugurated at the seminar hall at 3.00 pm by the honourable principal of the college Dr. K.V. Malini who was felicitated by the JCI for her contribution to the field of Chemistry as a part of International Women’s Day 2017. A talk was organized as a part of this day for the students pursuing Ist Year bachelor’s degree in arts, commerce and science streams. Dr. Ankeeta Menona Jacob, Assistant professor, Department of community medicine was the resource person for the day and spoke about “Reproductive Health” covering aspects of menstrual cycle and hygiene, gender and sexuality and responsible sexual behavior in adults. There was a video played on appropriate hygiene methods during menstrual cycle. She was felicitated as a part of women’s day celebration for giving talk on “Reproductive Health” and gifted a token of appreciation.
