Aeromodellers from team Aero club NITTE shine at IIT Kanpur - NMAMIT

A 4 year long endeavour of students from NMAM Institute of technology take a moment of pride and joy at North zonals in Boeing-IIT National Aeromodelling Competition organised by Boeing India and Aerotrix held at IIT Kanpur.

Team Aero Club Nitte, a team of multi-disciplinary undergraduate engineers from NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte has secured 2nd position at Boeing IIT National Aeromodelling competition held at IIT Kanpur. Karthik.B, RathanR Prabhu and Prabhat Kumar Pathak were among the 78 teams from various colleges of the country. The team had to design, fabricate and demonstrate a fixed wing aircraft system that can perform the respected manoeuvres in various rounds with given constrains. Karthik .B who had performed distinctly well in his piloting skills was awarded as the first runner up.

The team was participating in Boeing IIT National Aeromodelling competition from the past 4 years and they were always at the top 20. This year the North Zonals was held at IIT Kanpur and the team had practiced really hard. The hard work has paid them well and they have emerged as the 1st runner up. Aero club is an inter collegiate technical club in NMAM Institute of Technology started in the year 2012 by Mr. DivinBharadwaj, who is now working Lieutenant and Pilot in Indian Navy. The team consists of young aero modellers fromvarious departments work together, build and fly fixed wing and multicopter. They also conduct workshops on Chuck gliders, Radio controlled planes and also multicopters. The team includes GoutamNaik, Shreesha K S, Karthik S M, Vivek Kumar Shukla, Deeksha, Harshitha G S, Nanditha S J, Priyanka A, Krishna Adithya Bhat, BhargavUpadhyay , Anush Amin who design and fabricate the modelaircrafts. The pilots are trained byMr.Ananth.E who is working as Flight Engineer in a private company in Bengaluru and Mr.Prateek.P.Bboth alumnus of NMAMIT. Prof GururajUpadhyaya is the Staff co-ordinator of the club.

The performance of the team has been improving over the years. The team broke into the Nation’s top 12 best teams and are looking forward to give their best at the final round which is to be held at IIT Delhi on 22nd of this month.
