The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a guest lecture on “The Wonder World of Nanotechnology” by Dr. MS Santosh, Assoc. Professor at the Centre for Incubation, Innovation, Research and Consultancy (CIIRC), Jyothy Institute of Technology, Bangalore on 20th February 2019. Dr. CS Shastry, Principal of the college introduced the resource person and placed some brief but compelling examples on the exciting world of nanotechnology which ignited curiosity in the students and prodded them to involve in the guest lecture.
Dr. Santhosh started his session citing examples and concepts from the classic talk - “There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom” by the renowned American physicist, Richard Feynman. The judicious mix of real-life examples drawn from applications of nanotechnology in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering and Medicine dotted with short impactful video clips of products like molecular 3D printers, tiny switches, Nano rotors, Nano Rockets, Exercise Toy for children with juvenile arthritis etc. gripped the students’ attention. He also explained about many products like Nutrivita, Nano sticks, Haemostatic material Biosensors innovated at his Centre. His thought-provoking questions stirred the students’ interest making the session very interactive. The highly engrossing and educative session was concluded, by the Principal proposing the vote of thanks and presenting a memento to Dr. Santhosh, as a token of appreciation.
