The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp and watering the plant by the chief guest Dr. Selvamani, CEO, DK Zilla Panchayat along with the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dr. Alka Kulkarni, Registrar, Nitte DU; Ms. Manjula, BEO Mangalore North, Ms. Rajalakshmi K, BEO Mangalore South, Dr. Amitha Hegde and Dr. Amarshree Shetty.
Dr. Amarshree Shetty briefed about the work done at N-SPECC from August to December 2020. Prof. (Dr) US Krishna Nayak introduced the chief guest and all the dignitaries on the dais. This was followed by the release of ‘N-SPECC Covid Safe Project’ report, which consisted of a description of all the work and a CD containing Standard Operating Procedures for the schools. The goal was to ensure that the SOPs could be put to implementation to ensure the safety of the students, teachers, and the housekeeping staff when the schools commence.
Prof. Bhandary released the poster designed by the Dept. of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry which was distributed to schools as a part of the reinforcement of the knowledge provided by the university. Dr. Amarshree Shetty, Ms. Cynthia, and Ms. Shanthi D'souza were felicitated by the university for their excellent work in initiating the Nitte Covid Safe Project.
Appreciating the good work of ABSMIDS, Dr. R Selvamani promised to extend support to this project. This was followed by the presidential address delivered by the Vice Chancellor.
As a part of World Disability Day, Nitte DU donated 3 appliances - A hearing aid to Deepak Nair, Dennis brown splint to Mohammed Saifuluddin and a walker to Deepika S.
Dr. Amitha Hegde, Head, Dept. of Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry proposed the vote of thanks.
