CERTIFICATE COURSE IN CONE BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology conducted the seventh batch of the 4-day Certificate course in ‘Cone Beam Computed Tomography’ from 16th to 19th February 2021 under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) US Krishna Nayak, Principal & Dean and Prof. (Dr.) G. Subhas Babu, Head, Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology, ABSMIDS.
Dr. Ananya Madiyal, Lecturer, Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology was the course coordinator. The four-day extensive hands-on course included the applications of CBCT in various aspects of head and neck imaging in multi-planar dimensions in various specialties of dentistry, including Oral Implantology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Diagnosis of TMJ disorders as well as medico-legal considerations relating to the use of CBCT.
The course faculty were Prof. Dr. U. Raghuraj, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Radio Diagnosis, KSHEMA; Prof. (Dr.) G. Subhas Babu, HoD; Prof. (Dr.) Vidya Ajila, Dr. Shruthi Hegde & Dr. Renita Castelino, Readers; Dr. Kumuda Rao, Dr. Supriya Bhat & Dr. Ananya Madiyal, Senior Lecturers from the Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology.
Ten delegates from various specialties of dentistry from colleges in and around Mangalore, as well as Interns and PG students from ABSMIDS registered for the program. The delegates were impressed with the 8 practical hands-on sessions and the reporting exercises as well as demonstration of the working and technical aspects of the CBCT machine by Mr. Jagannath, Technical Expert from Virgo solutions, Bangalore who are service providers of Planmeca equipment.
