News from CYHACK | An intercollegiate cyber-security capture the flag event

Finite Loop, the Coders Club under CFSI-NMAMIT aims at giving students a good perspective of development and inspires them to realize their ideas through coding besides encouraging competitive programming participation. Finite Loop Club under Centre for Student Innovation (CFSI) in association with New Age Innovation Network (NAIN) and Inspirante Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Udupi organized CyHack, an intercollegiate cyber security Capture the Flag (CTF) event, on 26th May, 2021.

CTF is a information security competition that challenges the contestants to solve a variety of tasks ranging from a scavenger hunt on Wikipedia to basic programming exercises, to hack their way into a server to steal the data. In these challenges, contestants are asked to locate a specific piece of text (called the flag), that may be hidden on the server, file, image, etc. The event was open to students and teachers of all branches. Date: 26-05-2021 | Time: 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Registration Fee: Rs. 100 per head
21 teams from various colleges participated in the event.

WINNERS:
I Place: Saishankar M & Deva Indiran M, Cyber Forensics & Information Security, Univ. of Madras.
II Place: Chinthan R K & Dhvanith, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte.

The winners were given a cash prize of Rs.3000/-, and the runners up Rs.2000/-
The student coordinators of the event were Mr. Sanath Pai (IV CSE), Ms. Shreelaxmi (III CSE), Ms. Shravya Rao (IV CSE), Mr. Rahul S (IV CSE), and Ms. Swathi Shenoy (IV ECE).

Faculty Coordinators were Mr. Shashank Shetty, Mr. Krishna Prasad Rao and Mr. Puneeth R P from the Dept. of CSE,NMAMIT, Nitte.
