Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research (AWSAR) is a new initiative conceptualized & supported by the National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) Division, Department of Science & Technology (DST), which is actively engaged in developing various outreach programs for scientific fraternity. AWSAR envisages to bridge the existing gap in communicating research to common man by utilizing the latent potential of PhD Scholars and Post-Doctoral Fellows (PDFs). This program is being coordinated by Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous institute of DST.

News from NUCSER | AWSAR 2021 Award for Best Popular Science Stories
Ms Akshatha K, Project Associate at the DST supported Technology Enabling Centre of Nitte DU (DST NU-TEC) and PhD scholar at NUCSER, Nitte DU working under the guidance of Dr Deekshit, Asst. Professor, NUCSER, has been awarded AWSAR 2021 Award for Best Popular Science Stories under PhD Category. Her research story entitled “Resistance is Bacterial Super power, What’s yours? - A TED talk by the Superbug” made it to the top 100 stories among ~2000 articles submitted across the country. The award was given on 28th February 2022 on the occasion of National Science Day. The Award includes a cash prize of Rs.10,000/-, Certificate of Appreciation by the Dept. of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India and invitation to attend the Science Film Training Workshop organized by Vigyan Prasar.
