16 rural volunteers from Jokatte and Permude were trained in first aid & emergency skills such as hand hygiene, vital signs, wound dressing, bandaging & restraining, cardio pulmonary resuscitation, management of poisonous bite, hemorrhage control, trauma care - cervical spine stabilization, shifting & transfer, management of foreign body aspiration, management of burns and convulsion.
Shri. Kumara, Chief Executive Officer, DK Zilla Panchayath was the Chief Guest. Shri. SB Venkatesh M, Commander, Coast Guard was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte DU expressed that most health-related problems are the outcome of negligence and lack of awareness. 'APATHBANDHU' is one of the unique and aspirational initiatives of the University to train the rural volunteers in first aid and emergency care.
Mrs. Tara and Mr. Amin, the trainees expressed their opinion about the program. The Apathbandhu kit and certificates were distributed to all the volunteers by Shri. Kumara and Shri. S.B Venkatesh. Dr. Fatima Dsilva, Principal, NUINS welcomed the guests and briefed about the program. Dr. Sabitha Nayak, Vice-Principal proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Mrs. Jeevitha Alva.
