The Departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Public Health Dentistry of A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, in association with Sahyadri Sanchaya under the leadership of Mr. Dinesh Holla & team, organized "Vanachetana - Empowering Tribal Children's Education in Forest Areas" from 14th to 16th June 2026 at various tribal schools in Joida and Yellapura Taluks of Uttara Kannada.
Dr. Gopinath Thilak PS, Professor, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, along with Mr. Sanchith, Intern, delivered interactive health talks and conducted educational skits focusing on oral hygiene, general health, personal cleanliness and oral cancer awareness. The program emphasized the prevention of tobacco-related diseases and encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyle practices.
Toothbrushes and toothpastes were distributed to the 288 tribal children to reinforce the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene.
