The Nursing Education Unit, Dept. of Community Health Nursing and PG students of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences organized a Continuing Nursing Education program on Qualitative Research - Data Collection & Analysis on 20th January 2023.
The formal inauguration of the event started with a prayer song rendered by Ms. Nepe Konyak & team, MSc Nursing students, followed by a welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Jacintha Veigas, Program Coordinator & Coordinator of the Nursing Education Unit, NUINS.
The resource persons Prof. (Dr) Sudhir Prabhu, Head, Community Medicine, Fr. Muller Medical College, Mangalore and Dr. Anusha Rashmi, Assoc. Professor, Community Medicine, K S Hegde Medical Academy were introduced by Ms. Sarita Telma Fernandes, and Ms. Suchithra B S, faculty of the Community Health Nursing Department.
The topics dealt with were Qualitative interview techniques, Typology, Developing an FGD guide, conducting FGD, Nonformal interactions and qualitative data analysis using manual coding. Participants had an opportunity to conduct and take part in Focus Group Discussion, develop an interview guide and perform manual coding for analyzing the qualitative data. Feedback link was shared with the participants. Certificates were distributed to all the participants.
Prof Vinutha Dsouza, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing (KNC Observer) also addressed the gathering and appreciated the CNE. Organizing Student Secretary Ms. Vicky Priya proposed the vote of thanks.
24 students and 19 faculty attended the program.
