News from NIPT | South India level Inter-collegiate Cricket Tournament - NITTE PHYSIO PREMIER LEAGUE 2023 (N2PL)

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy conducted a South India level Inter-collegiate Cricket Tournament - NITTE PHYSIO PREMIER LEAGUE 2023 (N2PL) from 17th to 19th March 2023 at University Grounds,Deralakatte campus. Padmashree Dr. Syed Kirmani, legendary Indian wicket keeper of the 1983 World Cup was the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Shri. N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte DU.

Dr. Kirmani along with Prof. (Dr) M Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor (Hospital Admn), Prof. (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Dr Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte University, Prof. (Dr) Dhanesh Kumar KU, Principal, NIPT and Mr. Jayesh Chandran, Organizing Secretary inaugurated the event by releasing balloons and unveiling the trophies.

Addressing students, Dr Kirmani asked them to imbibe the sportsman spirit and wished the event success. The dignitaries were later introduced to all the teams and their captains. The first over of the tournament was played by Dr. Syed Kirmani and Prof. (Dr) M Shantharam Shetty.

A total of 16 colleges participated in the event from across South India. League matches were conducted on 17th & 18th March and on the final day, the qualifying teams played for the prestigious trophy.

Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy won the tournament and was awarded a cash prize of INR 25,000 along with the trophy. KG College of Physiotherapy won the Runners-up trophy and cash prize of INR15,000. The awards for Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Man of the Match were also won by players from Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy.

Students of NIPT, along with the Student Council, contributed significantly towards the tournament's success. The faculty of NIPT was the driving force behind the execution of various committees. The event ended with the valedictory ceremony on 19th March, 2023 of which Dr Murali Krishna, Sports Advisor, NDU was the Chief Guest. Mr. Rakesh Krishna, Joint Secretary delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Vaishnavi Tadapatri postgraduate student was the master of ceremonies.
