News from NUINS | A dental screening program

The Department of Child Health Nursing in collaboration with the Department of Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS organized a dental screening program on the occasion of the Children’s Day celebration, at Aided Higher Primary School Paneer, Deralakatte on 12th November 2024, under the guidance of Prof. Sujatha. R, HoD, Child Health Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences.

Mrs. Jeevitha Alva and Ms. Sheryl Fernandes, faculty along with a combined team of V semester sursing students and interns from the Department of Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS conducted the dental screening program. Dental screening and treatment such as scaling and filling were done. About 81 school students were screened, of which filling was done for 31 students, scaling was done for 42 students, and 8 students were referred to ABSMIDS for further treatment. The faculty members distributed stationery items to the children. Lunch was also served for school children as part of the Children's Day celebration by Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences.
