The Department of Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS in association with the Indian Cancer Society, conducted a free Anti-tobacco awareness, Oral health awareness and Dental Screening Camp at Dr. M Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School, Thokur on 23.01.2025. Oral health and Oral cancer awareness was provided, emphasizing on the ill effects of tobacco, the influence of tobacco industry on children and measures to protect children from the ill effects of tobacco.
A total of 629 school children underwent screening during the camp. They were referred to the nearby Talipady and Hejamadikody Rural Satellite Centres as well as to the dental college for further treatment.
